GAMING, SCREEN-BASED STUFF, AND ELECTRONICS
- Gamestop A thoroughly "meh" workplace from what I hear, but still not awful. The products are well, the products. If you're into gaming you already know the deal. If not, they sell consoles and so on. Lately their site has also started offering things like PCs, electronics hardware, and such.
- Best Buy They have things. Many things. Electronics aplenty
- Office Depot Also has electronics aplenty. Also, a decent place to get computers as far as I'm aware.
INTERNET RELATED PRODUCTS AND SOFTWARE
- Qobuz A streaming music platform that is $11 a month or so that has pretty good audio quality and seemingly no drama. Interestingly, it allows you both to stream the music and to buy digital albums. In fact you can buy digital albums without any kind of subscription straight from the site.
- PBS Passport Do you like to watch educational stuff as a streaming service? Perhaps this could do the trick, as it gives you access to PBS's streaming media. Each local station is different for mostly legal reasons, so find yours here
- Discovery Plus It really is worth it for the quality of the educational shows. Steer clear of the pseudoscience shows, though; won't name names here. Gardening by the Yard and Good Eats, plus Engineering Catastrophes, are three good ones to watch. You'll definitely learn a lot. It is owned by Warner Brothers Entertainment, so you'll be supporting a monopoly and all that, but still. Better this than whatever's on cable.
- Mozilla The friendly folks that make Firefox
- Startpage Probably the most anonymous search engine
- Protonmail Secure email provider
- Mullvad A cheap, secure VPN provider
COMPUTER STUFF
- GOG Stands for Good Old Games, downloadable games without the headaches of Steam
