The symbol of the movement is wearing the color yellow. It originated in other anti-authoritarian movements, notably in the Hong Kong protesters of China's government who carried yellow umbrellas in order to stand out among a crowd.
Here are some resources on this site:
Copypasted from the Texas section: There are a wide variety of people in this state and in general claiming all sorts of reasons why they can't or shouldn't fully research who they vote, or do anything else about their civic participation. To discourage such people from being karma houdinis when it comes to social consequences, and to increase the likelihood of stuff like this actually happening, not to mention to increase the likelihood of government doing its job and not being total shit, spread awareness of how voting works, in FULL, everywhere and however you can. That way people can't keep claiming "Oh I didn't know," or "Oh I didn't have the time, I was too busy working" blah blah blah. It would also help a lot if this was you know, actually taught in school, but til then, here's what I found out. It's not the whole thing. I don't know all the answers and I want to find them. - 1/10/26
1/11/26 Some personal insights
- The No Kings movement is not homogenous, but it should be at least in this particular: we need unity. If you can't get with that, get the hell out. We have work to do. If you're going to bitch at me or anyone about how "complacent" we are, then I have news for you, bitch: where were YOU seven years ago? Huh? How bout some looking in the mirror? Complacency in the United States has cut across all boundaries of wealth, ethnicity, gender, national origin, and personalities. So much so that we re-enacted the Passover story of the Ten Plagues of Egypt, including losing children to Covid. Re-read that Bible story if you want. I've been rabidly angry this whole time. I've been working to change things this whole time. Some others have. Some haven't. Wherever you are on that map, hold yourself accountable for your own actions, not other people for whatever they "should" be doing now that you assume they are doing or not doing, or get out. Russia needs heroes, dontcha know. What's important now is who is now in the No Kings movement for sure and what we can do together to regain democracy.
- Copypasted from Rights section: 1/20/26 Every time someone achieves a legal or personal victory against someone in ICE or who is somehow still a Trumper, or who is a fascist motherfucker, it sure would be nice to say "Haven't you learned anything from the past few days?" If people say it over, and over, and over again, these ICE agents will choke on their own words.
1/12/26 Some potentially helpful (or not) books
- These, Collusion by Luke Harding and Hacks by Donna Brazile only showed up in my library catalog search today. They were published in 2017 as "New York Times Bestsellers," whatever that practically means, since I hadn't heard of them til now. Have I read them? Can I say anything about their truth or lack thereof? No to both. However they may be informative. They both cover the 2016 election, not the wild and outlandish 2024 one. - 1/12/26
